SWINDON PAEDOPHILE COREY REDSHAW CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND AVOIDS JAIL
In July 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving Corey Redshaw, a resident of Swindon, who was found to possess a disturbing collection of child abuse images and videos.Redshaw, who used the online alias ‘Pervyman,’ was discovered to have stored and uploaded material depicting the abuse of minors, including a particularly heinous image of a young boy aged around five or six engaged in sexual activity with an animal.
Redshaw, aged 21 at the time, claimed that he had attempted to distance himself from this vile material after he started a relationship with a girl.
However, his efforts to reform were short-lived, as social services later informed the parents of a 16-year-old girl about his online activities, which resulted in her being prohibited from seeing him.
According to the prosecution, Colin Meeke, police received intelligence indicating that a user with the username ‘Pervyman’ had uploaded indecent images to a website.
Investigators traced this activity back to an IP address registered at Redshaw’s mother’s residence in Swindon.
In May of the previous year, officers visited the property.
Although Redshaw was not present at the time, a search of the premises was conducted, and storage devices were seized for examination.
When Redshaw returned home, he voluntarily went to the police station, where he admitted that illicit material was stored on his devices.
He also provided authorities with information on where to locate the images.
The police investigation uncovered a total of 17 images and videos classified as the most serious category, along with 22 in a middle category and 29 deemed less serious.
Additionally, authorities found 745 prohibited images, predominantly cartoons, depicting children engaged in sexual acts.
During further questioning, Redshaw acknowledged that he had been actively seeking out such material but expressed surprise at the volume that was discovered.
He claimed that after starting his relationship, he had ceased viewing the images and had tried to avoid visiting such websites altogether.
Redshaw faced multiple charges, including three counts of possessing indecent images of children and one count of possessing prohibited images.
He pleaded guilty to all charges.
Judge Jason Taylor QC acknowledged his remorse and noted that Redshaw was a young man who appeared to be immature for his age.
The judge recognized the potential for rehabilitation and considered mitigating factors in his case.
As a result, Redshaw was sentenced to 20 months in prison, suspended for two years, with conditions including supervision, participation in a sex offenders’ programme, 200 hours of unpaid community service, and a fine of £500 to cover costs.
The court’s decision reflected a balance between punishment and the possibility of reform for the Swindon resident.
