CWMBRAN MAN HANDED SUSPENDED SENTENCE AFTER DISTURBING CHILD ABUSE CRIMES
A paedophile named Corey Elston, aged 23 from Cwmbran, expressed disturbing intentions about setting up a babysitting service to facilitate the sexual abuse of children. The court heard that he sent online messages describing his depraved interests in infants and young children.
Elston was caught possessing 22 child abuse films and photos during a police raid at his home last July.
Prosecutor Bethan Evans stated that upon police arrival, he claimed to have been banned from Snapchat but did not know why.
The messages revealed that Elston was 'turned on' by watching children being raped and specifically discussed a babysitting scheme.
One of the videos he possessed showed a man brutally assaulting a baby.
He admitted to possessing images categorized as A, B, and C of indecent children, as well as a prohibited image and an extreme pornographic image involving bestiality.
Elston’s defense portrayed him as a vulnerable, autistic young man who had been a recluse, struggling with self-esteem and confidence, with no friends.
The barrister argued that children suffer from this material, which is distributed online, and emphasized Elston’s remorse and understanding of punishment.
Judge Shomon Khan described the messages as 'sickening and depraved,' noting the serious nature of the offenses and Elston's apparent denial of his actions.
The court sentenced him to 12 months in jail, suspended for two years, requiring him to attend 26 sessions of a sex offender treatment program, complete 120 hours of unpaid work, and a 10-day rehabilitation activity.
He must register as a sex offender for 10 years and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order next month.
Additionally, he must pay £300 towards prosecution costs and a victim surcharge.
