MAN JAILED FOR UNPROVOKED ATTACK AND STALKING
A man who assaulted a member of the public after being declined a cigarette has received a prison sentence.Corey Davis, aged 34, approached the victim outside Peterborough Central Library located on Broadway around 11am on October 11th of the previous year.
Davis requested a cigarette, and upon the refusal, he began an unprovoked assault, hitting the individual in the face and body.
CCTV footage documented the incident, showing Davis pushing the victim toward the library’s entrance and continuing to kick him while he was on the ground.
When bystanders intervened to assist, Davis ceased his attack but then took the victim’s phone and fled the scene.
A member of the public chased him and managed to recover the phone and return it.
The assault left the victim with a missing tooth, two loose teeth, and bruising around his eye.
Following his arrest, Davis was also detained on suspicion of stalking, as investigations revealed he had repeatedly visited a family member’s residence throughout the previous year, demanding money.

Additionally, Davis had been sending the victim daily messages and making numerous calls, despite being asked to cease contact.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday, June 16th, Davis, who resides on Eastfield Road in Peterborough, was sentenced to one year and three months in prison after pleading guilty to causing actual bodily harm, theft, and stalking that caused serious alarm or distress.
