ESSEX WOMAN JAILED FOR STARVING HORSE
Anderson was found guilty of inflicting unnecessary suffering on an Appaloosa horse named Doodles, who was later euthanized.It was determined that she failed to investigate or treat the horse’s weight loss, poor health, and skin conditions affecting his legs and body.
Additionally, she neglected to establish an effective worming program or provide a proper diet.
RSPCA Inspector Emma Beynon stated: “Doodles’ condition was among the most severe I have seen.
“His health had deteriorated greatly simply because he had not received basic care, and his owner should have sought veterinary help when he started losing weight.
“Over the 18 months Doodles was in RSPCA custody, he showed considerable improvement, gaining weight.
“Nevertheless, the long-term effects of his prior neglect meant his body never fully healed, leaving him susceptible.
“When his condition worsened again due to the damage already done, veterinarians advised euthanasia as the most compassionate option – a heartbreaking decision for everyone involved in his care who had hoped for a different outcome.”
