CONNOR STANDISH FROM RUNCORN JAILED FOR ASSAULTS AND THREATS IN WIDNES
In a series of disturbing incidents that took place during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Connor Standish, a resident of Runcorn, has been sentenced to prison for multiple assaults and threatening behaviour in the Widnes area. The court proceedings, held at Warrington Magistrates’ Court, detailed a pattern of aggressive and threatening conduct by Standish, which culminated in his recent incarceration.
Standish, who has a long history of violent offences, was previously sentenced to seven and a half years in prison in December 2016 following a spree of criminal activities.
His past crimes included an armed robbery, biting police officers during an arrest, and threatening a teenage girl with a knife after she refused to perform a sexual act.
During that earlier sentencing at Chester Crown Court, Judge Neil Flewitt described Standish’s behaviour as “the behaviour of an animal,” emphasizing the severity of his actions.
He was also caught on one occasion carrying an imitation firearm, further illustrating his dangerous tendencies.
Fast forward to the current case, which was heard earlier this month, Standish was found guilty of multiple offences committed in the Widnes area.
The court heard that on June 15 and June 19, 2020, he assaulted two men, physically attacking them during separate incidents.
Additionally, on June 15, he threatened a woman, warning her that he would arrange for her house to be set on fire, a threat intended to instill fear and intimidation.
These offences included two counts of assault by beating and one count of threatening to destroy property.
The court documents confirmed that all these incidents took place within the Widnes locality, and Standish’s current address was listed as HMP Oakwood in Featherstone, West Yorkshire, indicating he was already serving time for other offences.
Despite his guilty pleas, magistrates decided that immediate custody was necessary, especially considering the violent nature of the biting and spitting incidents that occurred during the pandemic period.
As a result, Connor Standish, formerly residing on Davenport Row in Runcorn, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison.
In addition to his custodial sentence, he was ordered to pay a surcharge of £128 to support victim services.
However, no compensation was awarded, as his current incarceration is expected to last until 2025, and he has no means to pay at this time.
The court’s decision underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating violent and threatening behaviour, particularly during the challenging circumstances of the pandemic.
