CONNOR SANGSTER FROM ARBROATH SENTENCED AFTER REPEATED CHILD ABUSE VIDEO OFFENSES IN DUNDEE
Connor Sangster, aged 27, who was initially given a community-based alternative to custody after accumulating nearly 700 hours of child abuse videos, has been sentenced again for reoffending.Sangster has a documented history of downloading such illicit content since the age of 17.
At a hearing in Dundee Sheriff Court, Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown noted his progress and chose not to send him to prison, despite her prior warning that imprisonment could be imminent.
She explained that his recent offences occurred alongside existing court-mandated support structures which had not yet taken full effect.
The police had received confidential reports indicating illegal uploads associated with Sangster’s Google account, leading to a search that uncovered 443 images and 227 videos classified as Categories A, B, and C—depicting children between the ages of three and twelve.
Sangster confessed to possessing and downloading these materials over a span from August 2013 until October 2022.
His punishment includes a three-year supervision order, three years on the Sex Offenders Register, 200 hours of community service, and involvement with the Tay Project.
Sheriff Martin-Brown praised his social work report, describing it as 'very positive,' with the defendant having already completed most of his unpaid work.
The court added that his current sentence would extend his supervision period by six months.
Previously, Sangster was convicted of possessing an enormous collection of nearly 5,000 child abuse videos following a police search at his family residence after a tip-off.
During the raid, he told officers, 'I won’t waste your time.
You will find what you are looking for.
It’s on my phone, laptop, and SD card.' He admitted to similar offences at that time, which led to restrictions on his internet access and prohibited unsupervised contact with minors.
