CONNOR HAGLEY SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN EDINBURGH FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES
A man identified as Connor Hagley has been handed a significant prison sentence of eight years after being found guilty of serious sexual offences committed in Edinburgh.The conviction stems from a case that involved multiple allegations of abuse, including rape, against a woman over a period spanning from 2019 to 2021.
Hagley, aged 26, appeared before the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, 22 July 2024, where he pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.
The court's decision was announced at the High Court in Stirling on Tuesday, 27 August, marking a decisive step in the pursuit of justice for the victim.
In addition to his prison sentence, Hagley has been ordered to register on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, a measure that underscores the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
Detective Inspector Keith Taylor issued a statement emphasizing the gravity of the case.
He stated, “Hagley is a danger to women and his conviction proves that.
He’ll now face the consequences of his despicable actions, which have had a devastating impact on the woman involved.” Inspector Taylor also took the opportunity to commend the victim for her resilience throughout the lengthy investigation and court proceedings.
“I’d like to commend her for her strength throughout the investigation and court proceedings.
I hope this sentencing will bring some form of justice as she continues to move forward with her life,” he added.
Furthermore, the officer urged other victims of similar crimes to come forward.
“Anyone who has been a victim of such crimes is urged to come forward and report it to us.
We’re committed to fully investigating, regardless of when it happened, and bringing those responsible in front of the courts.
I want to reassure you, we have specially trained officers and partner agencies who will support you throughout.”
