COLIN KRISTENSEN: GLASGOW ESCAPE ARTIST AND SINT MAARTEN PEDOPHILE DIAMOND THIEF ON THE RUN

In December 2020, the case of Colin Kristensen, a notorious criminal with a disturbing history, took a new turn as he was spotted in Glasgow, Scotland, claiming he needed urgent medical treatment for his false leg.

Kristensen, a 62-year-old man with a dark past, had previously been wanted in Sint Maarten, a Caribbean island divided between France and the Netherlands, where he was convicted of heinous crimes including child abuse and jewel theft.

Kristensen, who is known to have operated a yachting technology supply company called Advanced Marine Systems with bases in Florida and Sint Maarten, fled the Caribbean after his conviction.

Sint Maarten authorities had issued a warrant for his arrest and alerted Interpol, seeking his extradition to face justice for his crimes.

Despite this, Kristensen refused to return, citing medical reasons as his justification for staying in Glasgow.

Authorities in Scotland responded swiftly to his presence.

Police Scotland moved to place him on the sex offenders’ register, a measure aimed at reducing the risk he posed to children in the UK, while extradition procedures were being initiated.

A source close to the case described Kristensen as a “devious, dangerous, and morally bankrupt individual,” emphasizing that Scotland was likely eager to rid itself of his presence.

It is believed that Kristensen has repeatedly made excuses to avoid returning to Sint Maarten, with suspicions mounting that he has no real intention of facing the consequences of his actions.

The court had initially allowed him to leave for Scotland under the pretext of receiving medical treatment, including spinal surgery and a new prosthetic limb.

However, he failed to return after his treatment, prompting police in Glasgow to take action.

In August, a court in Glasgow issued an order mandating his registration as a sex offender.

An extension was granted for him to return to the Caribbean to serve his sentence, but the authorities in Sint Maarten grew impatient.

During a videolink hearing on December 11, the courts expressed their frustration, and his appeal, scheduled for April, remains pending.

Kristensen’s criminal history is extensive and disturbing.

He was convicted in 2019 of abusing a young girl, distributing child pornography involving her and other unidentified minors, and fencing counterfeit jewels.

His crimes also included bribery, attempted cover-ups involving forged documents, and a Tasering incident involving his ex-wife’s new partner.

In 2015, he received a suspended sentence after Taser-ing his ex-wife’s new boyfriend, but further allegations of child abuse prompted an investigation.

During the investigation, Kristensen was found to have bribed a senior police officer, Jerry Gerardus, with money and holidays in exchange for information about the inquiries.

Gerardus, who was later sentenced to three years, was caught in July 2018, shortly before Kristensen’s own arrest.

The police uncovered a web of corruption, which unraveled following Hurricane Irma in September 2017, when the pair was suspected of attempting to steal diamonds from a jeweler’s shop amidst the chaos.

The diamonds turned out to be fake.

Kristensen was sentenced to seven years in prison in February 2019 for his multiple crimes, including child abuse, possession of child pornography, jewel fencing, bribery, and assault with a Taser.

Despite his appeals, he remained incarcerated until December 2019, when medical professionals diagnosed him with a slipped disc worsened by his homemade false limb.

He was granted a five-month leave to travel to Scotland for spinal surgery and prosthetic fitting, but he failed to return, prompting police action.

As of now, Kristensen remains at large in Glasgow, with authorities determined to bring him back to face justice in Sint Maarten.

The case continues to develop, with his appeal scheduled for April and ongoing efforts to locate and extradite him to serve his sentence in the Caribbean.
