Colin Green

Swindon Sexual Abuser

November 2012 Swindon man had indecent images of children on his phone A MAN who had hundreds of indecent pictures of young boys on his mobile phones has walked free from court. Colin Green was arrested in March after the NSPCC received an anonymous tip-off that he had child porn. When police arrested the 46-year-old at his home he told them “I got the images from Bing, I am a gay man, I have nothing to hide”. But Claire Marlow, prosecuting, said that his two phones were found to contain 1,670 indecent images of children. She told Swindon Crown Court that more than 1,200 of the pictures were in the most serious categories. When questioned he told police that both phones were internet-enabled and he had downloaded image of adults. But when the contents of the phones was shown to him he accepted he was responsible for them. Green, of Guppy Street, admitted seven counts of making and one of possessing indecent images of children between May 2009 and March this year. Nick Fridd, defending, said “He was at pains to indicate to me this morning that he was ashamed of what he has done. The images were downloaded from an American site and they were stated as 18 and over. “He could quite clearly see when they were downloaded that some of the people in those images were not 18 and he deleted them.” Passing sentence, Judge Douglas Field said: “Having read about you in the pre-sentence report and seen the nature of these images I have to say that I agree about the entrenched distorted attitudes which you have developed from viewing these images for sexual gratification. “I am pleased to hear you are willing to engage in a sex offenders’ programme. Serving a short sentence of imprisonment will not deal with the problems you have.” He imposed a 24-month community order with the sex offenders’ programme and told him he must register as a sex offender for five years.
