In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Manchester, a man named Colin Cooley has been handed down a severe prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple heinous crimes involving young boys. The sentencing took place at Manchester Crown Court, where Cooley, aged 50 and of no fixed abode, was convicted of a series of sexual offenses committed over a span of years.
Cooley was sentenced to 18 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a total of twenty-five counts, including four counts of rape, five counts of engaging in penetrative sexual acts with a child, five counts of indecent assault, five counts of gross indecency with a child, and five counts of sexual assault.
In addition to his prison term, he was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register for life, a measure that will require him to regularly update authorities about his whereabouts and activities.
Furthermore, he was issued with a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his contact with minors and limits his behavior to prevent further harm.
A restraining order was also put in place, prohibiting him from approaching or contacting the three victims involved in the case.
The crimes for which Cooley was convicted span a period from 1994 to 2010 and took place across the Moston and Crumpsall areas of Greater Manchester.
The victims, all young boys, were subjected to Cooley’s abuse when they were under the age of ten.
The first two victims endured Cooley’s abuse for between three and five years each.
During this time, Cooley would manipulate and coerce them into watching pornography, gradually escalating his actions to include performing sexual acts on the boys and forcing them to perform acts on him.
The pattern of abuse was systematic and deeply traumatic for the victims.
The third victim was also under ten when the abuse began, and the ordeal lasted for three years.
Similar to the first two victims, this boy was initially coerced into watching pornography with Cooley.
Over time, the abuse intensified, with Cooley performing sexual acts on the boy, eventually raping him on multiple occasions.
The details of these crimes highlight a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior that spanned over a decade, leaving lasting scars on the victims and their families.
The court’s decision reflects the severity of Cooley’s actions and the community’s demand for justice in this troubling case.
