CWMBRAN MAN INDICATES GUILTY PLEAS TO CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A 49-year-old man from Cwmbran is set to be sentenced next month after admitting to possessing a large number of indecent images of children.Colin Bick, residing at Marl Court, Thornhill, appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court, where the case was temporarily adjourned to allow for a report to be prepared prior to sentencing.
The court was informed that Bick had been in possession of indecent or pseudo-photographs of children over a period exceeding two and a half years, from 20 November 2023 to 8 July 2026.
During the hearing, he pleaded guilty to the charges.
The total number of images involved was 216, categorized into three levels of severity used by the courts.
Of these, 83 images were classified as category A, indicating the highest level of seriousness.
An additional 36 images were categorized as B, with the remaining 97 falling into category C.
Following the hearing, magistrates ordered Bick to comply with notification requirements—commonly known as being on the sex offenders register—which will stay in effect while the case remains ongoing.
He was also instructed to report to Cwmbran police station.
The court granted him unconditional bail until the next hearing.
A pre-sentence report has been requested to help the court evaluate all sentencing options.
Bick is scheduled to appear again at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 6 August.
