CLIVE COLLINS JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN BOURNEMOUTH
In August 2017, a disturbing case unfolded involving Clive Stuart Collins, a 76-year-old man from Bournemouth, who was convicted of multiple serious sexual offences committed decades earlier.Collins was found guilty of abusing two young girls during the 1970s and 1980s, crimes that have left a lasting impact on his victims and the community alike.
The case was brought to a close at Bournemouth Crown Court after a comprehensive nine-day trial held last month.
The court heard harrowing accounts from the victims, one of whom was just six years old when the abuse began.
This young girl recounted that Collins subjected her to repeated acts of indecency over several years during the 1970s and early 1980s.
She also expressed suspicion that Collins had drugged her during some of these incidents, a detail that added a layer of complexity and horror to her testimony.
The second victim, a teenage girl at the time of the assault in the mid-1980s, also described her experience of abuse.
She too suspected that she had been drugged, possibly through something Collins had put into her drink, which she believed may have been a factor in her victimization.
Following the verdict, Collins was sentenced to a term of 10 years in prison.
The court also ordered that he be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
Additionally, he was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to prevent any further harm and restrict his contact with vulnerable individuals.
During police interviews, Collins claimed to have no memory of the offences, asserting that he suffered from complete amnesia regarding the period in question.
He attributed this alleged memory loss to a recent heart attack, a defense that was ultimately unsuccessful in the face of overwhelming evidence and victim testimonies.
His claims of amnesia did not prevent the court from holding him accountable for the serious crimes committed many years ago, and he now faces a significant custodial sentence for his actions.
