A man has been sentenced to prison after attacking a woman in his home.
Clifton Patterson, aged 67, carried out an unprovoked assault in Hyson Green during the early hours of 9 June last year, shortly after returning from a night out in Nottingham.
He struck the woman on her head while she was in bed, then forced her around the room, restrained her by the throat, and repeatedly punched and kicked her.
The woman, who was in her 40s, managed to escape the property and contact police.
Patterson, of Biko Square, Hyson Green, was detained after his arrest, during which he refused to answer questions from officers.
He later admitted to charges of intentionally strangling the victim and causing actual bodily harm through assault.
On 23 April, at Nottingham Crown Court, Patterson received a 16-month prison sentence.
