In a significant legal development in Jersey, a 69-year-old man named Claude James Donnelly from St Brelade has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 15 years at the Royal Court for his involvement in serious child abuse and sexual assault crimes.

Following two separate trials, Donnelly was convicted on multiple counts related to his heinous actions spanning several decades. In the trial held in June, he was found guilty of committing 10 counts of indecent assault, four counts of rape, and procuring an act of gross indecency, all alleged to have taken place during the 1960s and 1970s.

Earlier, in a trial conducted in May, Donnelly faced additional charges and was convicted of three counts of indecent assault and one count of rape involving a teenage girl during the early 1980s. These convictions underscore a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned over two decades.
