PAEDOPHILE FROM CHESTER SENTENCED TO 20 MONTHS FOR BESTIALITY AND DRUG OFFENSES
A convicted paedophile has been sentenced to 20 months in prison after engaging in a cocaine-fueled group sex act involving an Alsatian dog.The offender, Claire Goodier—formerly known as John, and previously convicted of possessing child abuse images as a man—admitted to the charges in an earlier court hearing.
At Chester Crown Court, a probation officer described Goodier, aged 60, as 'manipulative' and 'deceitful' during the sentencing.
Although listed under a male name on court documents, a note indicated she was to be addressed as Claire.
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order remains in her name, but it is unclear whether she will serve her sentence in a men's or women's prison.
Judge Steven Everett condemned the offense, describing the incident involving the dog as 'despicable,' 'disgusting,' and 'depraved,' and sentenced her to 20 months behind bars.
Goodier has a history of previous convictions for possessing indecent images of children, with two convictions in 2006 and 2009.
The judge acknowledged that she had been 'astonishingly lucky' to avoid harsher sentences in the past, having only received suspended sentences.
Prosecutor Paulinus Barnes told Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, December 22, that police responded to Goodier's home on July 19, 2019, to conduct a routine check due to her being on the sex offenders register for life.
During the investigation, officers seized a laptop that contained evidence of internet searches related to bestiality.
After a full analysis, it was discovered that hidden folders contained 31 indecent images of a sexual act with an Alsatian.
Goodier admitted to possessing the images, stating she had fantasized about such acts for years and that after discussing her interests in Northwich, she traveled to Bournemouth in December 2018 to participate in the act with others and the dog.
On her arrest on June 17 of this year, police found a pen drive in her handbag with the same images, along with 3.5 grams of cocaine.
The sexual act took place between December 15 and 16, 2018, during which she was also breaching a suspended sentence imposed in May for failing to follow a sexual harm prevention order.
Defence solicitor Simon Mills argued that Goodier had been honest with probation services and that her behavior, though depraved, was sporadic rather than escalating.
He urged the court to consider a suspended sentence, highlighting her tentative signs of attitude improvement.
Goodier also failed to comply with the sexual harm prevention order in November, being 13 days late due to Covid-related isolation, which she blamed for the breach.
Judge Everett stated he agreed with the probation service's assessment that she was a low risk of reoffending but condemned her actions.
'You are a long, long way from changing your life,' he said.
'Since the terrible offense, you kept the images unashamedly for your own sexual gratification.
You deceitfully took part in a cocaine-fuelled incident with others.
Your record is appalling, and it could be said you were astonishingly lucky not to have gone to prison previously.
A message must go out: if you commit such disgusting behavior, then prison is unavoidable.' Goodier wept upon hearing her sentence, which includes 20 months imprisonment, a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and registration on the Sex Offenders' Register.
