CHESTERFIELD SEX OFFENDER CHRISTOPHER WRIGHT JAILED FOR RAPE IN CHESTERFIELD
In June 2021, Christopher Wright, a calculated and predatory sex offender, was sentenced to prison after a lengthy police investigation into historic sexual abuse.
Wright, 29, formerly of Clay Cross, Chesterfield, was found to have committed offences against two young boys at addresses in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
His criminal actions, which began when he was a teenager, only came to light after one of his victims reported the abuse.
Officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s public protection team launched an investigation in the summer of 2017, conducting interviews with multiple witnesses to gather evidence.
Initially, Wright denied all accusations; however, he later admitted to one count of raping a child under the age of 13 — an offence committed when he himself was still a minor.
Although he initially denied all other allegations, he was ultimately convicted by a jury of four additional counts of the same offence concerning a second victim.
On Thursday, Wright appeared at Nottingham Crown Court where he was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
He was also ordered to be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and was issued a sexual harm prevention order, which will impose strict restrictions on his activities once he is released from prison.
