September 2016 Pervert using fake name on social media met up with schoolgirl A pervert used a fake name on social media site Kik to meet up with a teenage girl, who suffered from learning difficulties. Christopher Woakes contacted the 15-year-old online before the meet up, but when her parents stepped in and stopped contact he sent her a mobile phone and loitered outside her home. The 31-year-old of the Portway was jailed for six years after he admitted grooming and two counts of sexual activity with a child. Ipswich Crown Court heard Woakes contacted a number of underage girls online in August 2015 in a bid to start sexual relationships. After sending one girl explicit images of himself the pair met up near her Suffolk home in October. Police said he encouraged the teen to lie to her parents and they were told she was spending time with a teenage boy. But they became suspicious and when they eventually saw him realised he was much older and the police were informed. But Woakes, who was using a fake name, continued to pursue the child, repeatedly trying to contact her, sending her a mobile phone and loitering outside her house. Members of the public became suspicious of his presence and Woakes was identified as the man who had been in contact with the teenager. He was arrested in November 2015 in Bristol and his computers seized. Detectives discovered he had a number of illegal images of children and had attempted to contact children across the world. Woakes was sentenced to four years in custody with non-automatic parole and an extra two-year probation requirement. He was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order with conditions around the ownership and use of computers, prohibition from using social media and prohibitions from contact with girls under 16.
