CHRISTOPHER STOCK'S BRUTAL ANIMAL ABUSE IN ROYAL TUNBRIDGE WELLS REVEALED
In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Royal Tunbridge Wells, Christopher Stock, a resident of Wiltshire Way, was involved in a violent act against a defenseless dog, which was captured on CCTV footage and later confirmed by veterinary examination. The incident took place outside the popular Guinea Butt pub located on Calverley Road on May 14, 2014. According to reports, a pub employee, while monitoring the establishment's CCTV system, observed Stock aggressively kicking his dog, a Mastiff named Sandy. The footage showed Stock delivering a forceful kick to the animal, causing her to be propelled into a nearby wall approximately a yard away. Witnesses described the scene as distressing, with the dog, weighing around 33 kilograms, visibly flinching and then fleeing the scene in fear and pain.
Two days after the incident, Andrew Kirby from the RSPCA visited Stock at his residence to investigate further. During the interview, Stock admitted to losing his temper and claimed he was 'off his head,' acknowledging that this did not justify his violent actions towards Sandy. Prosecutor Andrew Wiles emphasized the severity of the abuse, stating, "There is no doubt that the defendant caused a lot of unnecessary suffering to this poor dog. He kicked her very hard on her side, with enough force to knock her off her feet and send her flying across the floor."
Veterinary examination by Dr. Jason Hadley confirmed the CCTV evidence, indicating that Sandy had been kicked with significant force. The vet noted that the animal was 'clearly kicked hard,' and the injury was consistent with the footage.
It was also revealed that Stock had prior convictions, including for violence, although none involved animals. The RSPCA had taken steps to ensure Sandy's safety by placing her in a boarding kennel. However, Stock reportedly declined to relinquish custody of the dog, raising concerns about her future welfare. Prosecutors indicated that, upon sentencing, there could be a case for the deprivation of Sandy, which might lead to her being rehomed permanently.
The court has yet to determine the exact sentence for Stock's actions, but the case has garnered significant attention due to the cruelty involved and the community's concern for animal welfare in Royal Tunbridge Wells.
