DAD CAUGHT WITH EXTREME ANIMAL PORN AND INJURY VIDEOS WALKS FREE
A father from Wirral who was found with extreme animal pornography and videos depicting harm to a man's genitals was ultimately released without punishment from court. On August 27, 2018, police detained Christopher Shotton during investigations unrelated to his possession of illegal material, and he was later acquitted of those charges.
During this process, authorities also seized his mobile phone, which contained disturbing content.
Liverpool Crown Court was informed that the device held 12 highly explicit files, including images of bestiality and videos showing scenes that could cause genital injury.
Prosecutor Keith Sutton described the situation: "The defendant was arrested and interviewed in relation to unrelated matters, against which he was acquitted.
But the police found 12 items of extreme porn on his mobile phone." Shotton acknowledged that the phone belonged to him and claimed he was unaware that the files were illegal or classified as extreme pornography.
He admitted to possessing extreme pornographic material, including images involving sex with animals and a "dead unknown animal," and pleaded guilty to possessing material depicting acts likely to cause serious injury to private parts.
He had no prior convictions related to these offenses, and because of the sentence length, he was not required to register as a sex offender.
The court imposed a 12-month community order along with a 20-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.
Judge Anil Murray ordered the phone to be destroyed by April 14 and stated that Shotton wanted to keep photos of his son.
Additionally, the judge directed the forfeiture and destruction of the phone, which Shotton requested not to be actioned immediately, as it contained other pictures of his son.
