RAPIST JAILED FOR 12 YEARS FOR OFFENCES COMMITTED MORE THAN 10 YEARS AGO
A man has received a 12-year prison sentence after being convicted of crimes he committed over ten years ago.
Christopher Sams, aged 34, systematically victimized a young individual repeatedly over a span of six years.
The victim demonstrated courage by reporting the abuse in 2021, prompting Northumbria Police’s Safeguarding Division to initiate an immediate investigation.
Sams, residing on Kenton Road in North Shields, was quickly apprehended and denied the allegations.
He faced charges including eight counts of rape and an additional count of sexual assault.
The case proceeded to a week-long trial in November at Newcastle Crown Court, where a jury found Sams guilty on all charges.
On the following Friday, he appeared once more at the same court to be sentenced to twelve years in prison.
In addition to his prison term, Sams has been issued a sexual harm prevention order and is now registered as a sex offender.
