HAWICK MAN SENTENCED FOR STRANGLING PARTNER IN PEEBLES

A man from Hawick, Christopher Robertson, aged 21 and living on Trinity Street, has been sentenced to prison after a violent incident involving his partner.

In May of the previous year, he was found to have assaulted her at an apartment on North Street in Peebles.

According to court reports, Robertson restrained his partner by straddling her and applying pressure to her neck while threatening to kill her.

Sheriff Peter Paterson characterized the assault as serious and sentenced Robertson to 13 months in jail.
