A man from Watford, Christopher Quigley, aged 41, engaged in online conversations he believed were with underage girls aged 12 to 14.
In reality, he was communicating with police decoys.
Quigley, who called himself ‘Shy Chris,’ sent pictures of his bare chest and encouraged the 'children' to perform sexual acts.
He initially contacted the decoys through the Chat Hour website and continued conversations on WhatsApp, asking if they had 'ever been naughty' and requesting they not tell anyone.
Quigley admitted attempting to incite a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, trying to engage a child in sexual communication, and attempting to incite a child to sexual acts, totaling nine offences.
He expressed remorse and was described as lonely, with the defense mentioning he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the offences.
He was sentenced to 32 months in prison, required to abide by a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years, and must register as a sex offender.
