MAN JAILED FOR STRANGLING WIFE AT CARAVAN PARK
A man has been sentenced to 27 months in prison after admitting to strangling his separated wife at a Lincolnshire caravan site.Christopher Piercy, aged 56, pleaded guilty to the attack carried out in North Hykeham on December 18, while he was on bail at an address in Falkirk, Scotland.
He faced charges of assault, willful strangulation, and attempting to interfere with justice, as well as making threats to his wife should she choose to report the incident.
The court learned that Piercy has a significant criminal past, including a conviction for attempting to murder a former partner and injuring a 12-year-old girl in 2004.
Judge Simon Hirst ordered that Piercy serve 27 months in prison, followed by a two-year extended licence upon release, emphasizing concerns over his potential danger to the community.
In his remarks, Judge Hirst described the assault: 'You struck her on the left cheek and then pulled her hoodie across her throat, which she states lasted four or five minutes.
She claimed she could not breathe, and you responded by saying you 'didn't want her to breathe.' The victim’s eye was swollen, and she conveyed that she was left profoundly shaken by the incident.
Piercy’s prior convictions include battery in 2003, attempted murder in 2004, an assault in 2014, and violating a restraining order in 2016.'
