HERTFORD MAN CHRISTOPHER PARSONS JAILED FOR REPEATED SEXUAL OFFENCES
Convicted Hertford rapist Christopher Parsons, aged 41, who previously served 13 years of a 17-year sentence in California for raping a woman, is facing new allegations in the UK.Parsons was brought back to the UK in March 2013 after his previous conviction and was ordered by magistrates in Uxbridge to register as a sex offender for life, although no DNA sample was taken at that time, allowing him to evade detection.
In June 2015, Parsons assaulted a 16-year-old girl in Hertford, threatening her with death and causing her injury from a scratch on her neck, from which police obtained a DNA sample.
Later, in December 2015, he was linked to this attack after his arrest following another rape in Hertford and was convicted of causing actual bodily harm, false imprisonment, and intending to commit a sexual offence.
Additionally, he was found guilty of raping a woman in December 2000 in Sacramento, California, and was sentenced to 17 years.
Parsons denies some of the charges, including allegations related to a separate assault on a different woman, but he admitted to failing to notify police of a change of address, as required under the Sex Offenders’ Register.
The court sentenced Parsons to a discretionary life sentence, with a minimum of 10 years and 167 days before he can be considered for parole.
The judge praised the bravery of the teenage victim, noting she fought like a tigress.
Outside court, the victim’s mother remarked that if DNA had been taken upon his return to the UK, the earlier attack might have been prevented, and Parsons could have been caught six months earlier.
