LONDON MAN CONVICTED OF DEADLY ASSAULT ON ELDERLY WOMAN

A 45-year-old man from Bow, Christopher Newton, has been found guilty of a savage attack that caused the death of Eileen Jones.

The incident happened in March while Newton was visiting Paul Rangel, and the violence occurred during a drinking session at Mandela House, Shoreditch.

Eileen, known for her friendly and sociable personality, was attacked after bringing a meal to her blind neighbor.

The Old Bailey court heard that she was punched, kicked, and stamped upon until she died from her injuries, which included multiple facial and chest wounds.

Her body was discovered at Newton’s flat the next day.

Evidence such as shoe marks matching Newton’s shoes on her clothing and bloodstains around the scene supported his involvement.

The judge described the attack as 'ferocious,' and Newton was sentenced to at least 22 years in jail.
