CHRISTOPHER KELLY AND SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENDING IN MANCHESTER AND RADCLIFFE
Christopher Kelly, a 56-year-old resident of Cranbrook Street in Radcliffe, was formally sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday, October 28, 2022, to serve a two-year imprisonment term. The sentence was handed down after Kelly pleaded guilty to violating his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and for using the internet to establish contact with young girls under the age of 18.
The case against Kelly came to light in September when authorities, along with vigilant online communities, identified concerning activity involving Kelly.
Several online vigilante groups had noticed suspicious communications, suspecting Kelly was using fake profiles of different 13-year-old girls to engage with minors.
These groups actively reported their suspicions, prompting further investigation by law enforcement.
Following these reports, police officers from the Bury division of Greater Manchester Police, particularly members of the Complex Safeguarding Team, moved swiftly to arrest Kelly.
His online behavior and the reports of predatory messaging led to his detention and subsequent court proceedings.
Detective Constable Adam Gosling, who oversees the Complex Safeguarding Team, publicly commented on the case, stating, “Kelly’s actions are deplorable and completely unacceptable.
The safety of our children is a top priority of GMP, and I hope this result sends a stark warning to offenders that these behaviours will not be tolerated.” He also emphasized the importance of community cooperation and urged victims or anyone affected to come forward, saying, “I would encourage anyone who has been affected by this case to please come forward and tell us what happened to you.
We will listen and take your allegations seriously.
Victims should not feel they are at fault when they are preyed on by offenders.” Gosling reaffirmed that the Greater Manchester Police are committed to thoroughly investigating all reports related to child exploitation and online predation.
The message was clear that such criminal behavior will be met with determined law enforcement action, ensuring justice for victims and safeguarding of the community.
