In September 2009, a man from Garstang named Christopher Hughes, aged 20, appeared in court facing serious allegations of having unlawful sexual contact with underage girls. Hughes, of Hazelhurst Drive, pleaded guilty to all eight charges during his hearing before magistrates in Lancaster on Tuesday. The offences in question took place between August and December 2008. Following his plea, Hughes was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to re-appear at Lancaster Crown Court on December 21.
