CHRISTOPHER HINES-RANDALL AND SHOCKING RAPE IN WEST SUSSEX
A 23-year-old man identified as Christopher Hines-Randall has been sentenced to a prison term after committing a heinous crime in Chesham, a town located in Buckinghamshire, and with connections to West Sussex.The offender was convicted of raping a woman at her home in Chesham during November 2008, an incident that shocked the local community and drew significant court attention.
The sentencing occurred at Aylesbury Crown Court, where Hines-Randall was found guilty on August 23 of serious criminal offences, including rape and actual bodily harm (ABH).
These charges stemmed from an attack that took place over a decade ago, and the case was brought to a head after a jury deliberated and returned a guilty verdict.
During the proceedings, the presiding judge highlighted the disturbing circumstances surrounding the crime.
He described Hines-Randall as having a “worrying history of violence,” emphasizing that the gravity of his offence was compounded by a distressing detail: the victim’s child was sleeping in an adjacent room when the attack took place.
This revelation underscored the severity and the disturbing nature of the assault.
Regarding Hines-Randall's background, court records indicated that although he had no prior convictions, he had been cautioned previously by authorities—a detail that added to concerns about his past behavior.
The court heard that Hines-Randall resides on Chalk Hill in Chesham, a location within Buckinghamshire, but the impact of his actions resonated beyond just the immediate community.
In his ruling, His Honour Judge Moss sentenced Hines-Randall to a five-year prison term for the charge of rape.
Additionally, he received a nine-month sentence for the charge of actual bodily harm, with both sentences to be served concurrently, meaning the overall time in prison will be five years.
