CHRISTOPHER GOODWIN CAUGHT IN BRIDLINGTON WITH HUNDREDS OF CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Bridlington, authorities uncovered a significant amount of illegal material on the electronic devices of local resident Christopher Goodwin, aged 60.The investigation was triggered when Goodwin took his Lenovo laptop to a computer repair technician for servicing.
Unbeknownst to him, the technician discovered numerous indecent images of children stored on the device, which prompted immediate reporting to law enforcement agencies.
Following this revelation, police executed a search warrant at Goodwin’s residence on Pembroke Terrace in Bridlington on November 9, 2016.
During the operation, officers seized seven mobile phones along with the laptop, initiating a detailed forensic examination of all electronic devices found at the property.
The analysis uncovered more than 400 indecent images, a substantial number of which were classified as the most severe ‘category A’ images, indicating the highest level of criminality and harm.
The images included photographs of children as young as ten years old, many of whom appeared to be in obvious distress or pain, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material.
In addition to the images, investigators uncovered chatroom conversations of a salacious and sexualized nature involving Goodwin and young children.
These communications revealed a pattern of inappropriate and illegal interactions, further implicating him in the exploitation of minors.
Prosecutor Phillip Evans addressed the court at Hull Crown Court, detailing the severity of the case.
He pointed out that on January 9, 2016, Goodwin engaged in conversations involving sexual activity or sexualized discussions with a 10-year-old.
Additionally, on July 19, 2016, there were recorded exchanges of a sexual nature with a 13-year-old.
These communications demonstrated a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior and exploitation.
Goodwin ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children and two counts of distributing such images online.
It was established that he had been actively sharing the illicit material with other users, which significantly aggravated the severity of his offenses.
During sentencing, Recorder Jeremy Hill-Baker condemned Goodwin’s actions, emphasizing the victimization of the children involved.
He stated, “It is sometimes thought that there is no victim in a crime like this but every picture of a child in a sexualized position is a child that is a victim who has been photographed and abused.” The judge also highlighted the gravity of Goodwin’s participation in sharing the images, noting that this behavior warranted a harsher sentence.
Furthermore, he criticized Goodwin for engaging in sexualized conversations with individuals he believed to be children, describing such conduct as unacceptable and deeply troubling.
