GRIMSBY MAN CHRISTOPHER GARROD SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENCY AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY
In March 2014, Christopher Garrod, a 34-year-old resident of Cromwell Road, Grimsby, was sentenced after being found in possession of indecent images of children, extreme pornography, and 'snuff' movies on his computer.Police investigation revealed disturbing material, including images of animals and fake 'snuff' scenes depicting apparent deaths.
Garrod admitted to making indecent images of a child and committing eight offences related to possessing extreme pornography in 2011.
Prosecutor Gordon Stables told Grimsby Crown Court that police had received an anonymous tip through Crimestoppers about Garrod’s possession of indecent images.
These tips led to further investigation because police already had his computer, which was seized during an unrelated case involving a theft from his employer.
Garrod had previously received a community sentence for that theft.
Upon examining the computer, authorities discovered 32 indecent images featuring the same girl.
The extreme content included images involving animals and 'snuff' movies, which showed actors simulating death scenes.
Craig Lowe, representing Garrod, stated that there had been no further offences in the past two years.
He also noted that Garrod claimed he had tried to prevent himself from viewing such material by not accessing the internet.
Addressing the court, Lowe said, 'Garrod was ashamed of his behaviour and wishes he had never done it.' Garrod was sentenced to six months in prison and was also issued a five-year sexual offences prevention order.
