Wokingham St Austell Rapist
In 2016, Christopher Freeman, aged 47 and residing at Frederick Place, Wokingham, Berkshire, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for multiple sexual offences. He was convicted of eight counts of rape, including some incidents that occurred in the St Austell area.

Freeman faced charges of three counts of raping a girl under 13, three counts of raping a woman, and two counts of raping a boy. Although his most recent address was in Berkshire, his trial was held in Cornwall because some of the offences took place in the St Austell region.

His case was transferred to Truro Crown Court following an initial appearance at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court. After a six-day trial, a jury found Freeman guilty of the charges.

The verdict was delivered by Judge Recorder Richard Stead, who subsequently sentenced Freeman to 20 years in prison.
