WIGAN MAN JAILED FOR LIFE OVER SCISSOR MURDER OF PARTNER
Christopher Foley, 23 years old, has received a life sentence after being convicted of murdering his partner Joanne Harrison by stabbing her with scissors.
Joanne, who was 20, died in a hospital after being found at a home on Cameron Place, Wigan, on February 1.
An autopsy confirmed her cause of death was the numerous stab wounds to her neck.
Foley, living at the same residence, was convicted at Liverpool Crown Court following a trial.
The court set a minimum term of 16 years before Foley could be considered for parole.
Senior Investigating Officer Bob Tonge described the case as 'very horrific and very sad,' emphasizing that a young woman’s life was tragically ended during a domestic violence incident.
Joanne’s family shared their sorrow, stating, 'We miss Joanne every minute of every day.
Today, her killer has been sentenced, and justice has been served.
We hope this will help us begin to heal from the pain of the past six months, although we will never forget Joanne or the many memories she left us.' This case highlights the violent and tragic nature of the crime committed.
