A 69-year-old man identified as Christopher Flavin, a resident of Portishead, has been sentenced to a period of detention after authorities uncovered disturbing evidence on his electronic devices.

The investigation was initiated following an incident at a local shop, which prompted police to conduct a search of Flavin's belongings.

During the search, officers discovered a collection of child sexual abuse images stored on his devices.

Flavin subsequently admitted to possessing and creating indecent images of children, revealing a troubling pattern of behavior.

Further examination of his online activity uncovered searches related to specific children, as well as images depicting young boys, raising serious concerns about his intentions and actions.

It was also revealed that Flavin has a criminal history, with five previous convictions, indicating a long-standing pattern of offending behavior.

Following the discovery and his admission, he was remanded in custody while awaiting sentencing.
