A man from Dunfermline named Christopher Dodds faced court proceedings after a disturbing incident that was captured on a video doorbell camera. The events took place earlier this year on Whitelaw Road, where Dodds, who was visibly intoxicated at the time, engaged in aggressive and threatening behavior directed at his former partner's residence.
According to reports, the woman, who was awakened by loud shouting and banging noises, checked her video doorbell footage and discovered Dodds outside her home.
The footage revealed him using a glass bottle to strike her front door and shouting aggressive threats such as, "I'm going to smash your whole f****** house up." The video also showed Dodds hitting the doorbell with the bottle, which caused damage to the device.
Christopher Dodds, aged 42 and residing on Poplar Grove, was subsequently brought before Dunfermline Sheriff Court to answer for his actions.
During the court appearance, he admitted to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.
It was noted that he had come to the property under the influence of alcohol, and his conduct included shouting, swearing, and making violent threats.
His legal representative acknowledged that alcohol misuse had been a significant issue for Dodds in recent years, expressing regret that he had let himself down.
The court's sheriff, Susan Duff, sentenced Dodds to a restriction of liberty order, which requires him to stay at home between 7 pm and 7 am.
The order also permits a 15-minute walk at 9:30 pm for a period of six months.
Furthermore, an anti-harassment order was issued, prohibiting Dodds from contacting his former partner for a duration of one year.
In her remarks, Sheriff Duff addressed Dodds directly, stating, "I think you are right to feel ashamed of yourself for behaving like that." The court's decision aims to prevent any further incidents of harassment or violence, emphasizing the seriousness of his actions and the importance of respecting boundaries and safety.
