CHRISTOPHER CAREY SENTENCED IN NEWCASTLE FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING CHILDREN
Christopher Carey, a 43-year-old from Bedlington, Northumberland, used social media platforms to communicate his desires and intentions. He was apprehended when the individuals he had been contacting were revealed to be police officers.
Carey pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offences and was sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court.
Northumbria Police stated that Carey believed he had formed what appeared to be friendships with three girls aged 12 and 13 between January and May this year.
Initially, he shared non-explicit selfies and messages, but then his conversations took a darker turn as he expressed a desire to kiss and cuddle the young girls, alongside details of sexual acts he wanted them to perform.
Carey, of Elmfield Court, was sentenced on Monday after admitting to inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual acts, four counts of sexual communication with a child, and breaching a sexual offences prevention order issued in 2017.
Commenting on the case, Detective Inspector Rachel Lewis mentioned that Carey had been "completely undeterred" by the 10-year order meant to prevent him from engaging with children in such a manner.
She added, "He continued to offend." Lewis highlighted that the substantial evidence presented in court left the defendant with no option but to plead guilty.
As part of his sentencing, Carey is required to register as a sex offender for life and has been issued a lifetime sexual harm prevention order.
