SOUTH SHIELDS PAEDOPHILE CHRISTOPHER BULLOCK CAUGHT IN SEX CHAT SCAM WITH UNDERCOVER COP IN LONDON
In April 2022, a disturbing case emerged involving a paedophile from South Shields, who believed he was engaging in sexual conversations with a young girl but was actually communicating with an undercover police officer. The incident highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat online child exploitation and the dangers posed by predators seeking to exploit minors through digital platforms.
Christopher Bullock, aged 39 and residing on Whitehall Street in South Shields, became the focus of a police sting after he initiated contact with what he thought was a 13-year-old girl on the Kik messenger app.
Unbeknownst to him, the profile he was messaging was created by an undercover officer posing as a young girl from London.
The officer's profile was designed to lure individuals like Bullock into revealing their intentions.
According to the prosecution, Rachel Glover, the officer involved, explained that the fake profile received three initial messages from Bullock between June and July 2019.
In these messages, he greeted the profile with a casual 'Hi gorgeous,' but did not receive an immediate reply.
Subsequently, on September 2, 2019, Bullock made four more attempts to initiate a conversation, during which he disclosed personal details, claiming he was 36 years old, from Newcastle, and worked as a delivery driver.
As the conversation progressed, Bullock's messages took a disturbing turn, becoming increasingly sexual.
He asked the fictitious girl to play a 'question and answer' game, with many of the questions being explicit in nature.
He expressed a desire to see her breasts and even asked if she would like to meet in person.
During the exchange, Bullock also sent a photograph of himself, along with a highly inappropriate image of his genitals.
The police acted swiftly once the conversation was identified as a potential threat.
Officers raided Bullock's home and seized electronic devices, including a hard drive.
An examination of these devices revealed indecent images of children, some classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of abuse material.
These images had been downloaded over a period spanning from 2017 to 2019.
At Newcastle Crown Court, Bullock faced multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor.
He pleaded guilty to all charges during a previous hearing.
His legal representative, Gavin Doig, highlighted that Bullock had shown remorse and had no prior convictions.
He emphasized that the conversation was a single incident and expressed shame for his actions.
Judge Ian Mullarkey sentenced Bullock to a 10-month prison term, which was suspended for two years.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete 55 days of rehabilitation activities and participate in a sex offender treatment program.
Bullock was also placed under a seven-year sexual harm prevention order and will be registered as a sex offender for the next ten years, reflecting the seriousness of his offences and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
