CHRISTOPHER BROWN AND SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN BANBURY

In a detailed court hearing at Oxford Crown Court, Christopher Brown, a 34-year-old resident of South Street, Banbury, faced serious allegations related to his possession of indecent images of children and violations of sex offender notification obligations.

The proceedings revealed that Brown, who is a convicted sex offender, had been misleading police about the whereabouts of his curriculum vitae, claiming it could be found on a memory stick.

During police investigations, Brown admitted that this was not true and that the device contained illegal content, including sickening images and videos depicting child abuse.

Police seized Brown’s devices as part of their investigation, uncovering a disturbing cache of digital material.

The analysis confirmed the presence of a total of 804 images and videos classified in the highest category of abuse, along with 252 in a secondary category and 43 videos categorized as less severe yet still explicit.

Among the material found were three extreme pornographic videos, indicating the gravity of the material he possessed.

The court was also informed that Brown had broken the rules of his sex offender registration requirements.

Specifically, he had spent an entire night in the company of an adult woman in her bed, thereby living outside his registered address for over 12 hours.

This breach was brought to the court’s attention when authorities contacted the woman earlier this year.

She was completely unaware that her partner, with whom she had been involved since October 2021, was a registered sex offender with a complicated criminal history.

Brown attempted to justify his actions by claiming confusion over the conditions of his notification obligations.

In a effort to clarify his whereabouts to the police, he presented a schedule attempting to detail the times and dates he had been at the woman’s residence.

However, the prosecutors challenged this explanation, emphasizing the seriousness of his breaches.

During the court proceedings, prosecutor Alex Radley recounted that during an initial search of Brown's home, he suggested that his curriculum vitae was stored on a memory stick that had not been registered with police.

Nevertheless, Brown later conceded that the device contained illegal and inappropriate content, explicitly stating, “I’ll be honest.

My CV isn’t on the memory stick.

There’s stuff there I shouldn’t have.” Brown’s history of offenses dates back to 2016 when he was first placed on the sex offender register following a conviction for indecent exposure.

Initially given a suspended sentence of ten weeks, he failed to adhere to the court’s conditions, leading to the activation of that sentence.

Since then, he has been convicted repeatedly for possessing indecent images of children and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

A probation officer presenting the pre-sentence report advised the court that an immediate prison sentence was recommended, a suggestion that appeared to surprise the judge.

She emphasized that Brown had been given multiple opportunities to comply with probation requirements but failed repeatedly.

Mitigating circumstances were presented by lawyer Gordana Austin, who argued that Brown recognized the nature of his criminal behavior and admitted that his offenses stemmed from periods of loneliness while living alone.

Since these incidents, he had moved back in with his parents in Banbury, seeking to address his problematic behavior.

Brown’s employment history was also discussed; he had worked as a chef before attempting various agency jobs and eventually found work as a handyman on construction sites, a role he reportedly enjoyed.

Ultimately, Recorder Paul Reid sentenced Christopher Brown to a total of two years in prison, making clear the seriousness of his violations and the disturbing nature of his crimes, which cast a dark shadow over the community of Banbury.
