A man convicted of engaging in sexual communication with what he believed were underage children on social media has been sentenced to prison.
Christopher Bradshaw, aged 32, made contact with an account in May that turned out to be a fake profile operated by an online advocacy group against child abuse.
The account claimed the user was just 13 years old and still in school.
Nevertheless, Bradshaw engaged in conversations of a sexual nature, eventually sharing his phone number and shifting the dialogue to WhatsApp.
In addition, around the same period, he reached out to another fake account where the person described herself as 14.
He persisted with explicit exchanges and also provided his number for WhatsApp messaging.
Although he used a pseudonym, authorities traced the shared phone number to Bradshaw after investigation, leading to his arrest.
He admitted to encouraging a girl aged between 13 and 15 to partake in sexual activity and to breaching sex offender notification obligations.
Bradshaw, from March, was sentenced to a six-year term at Peterborough Crown Court on Tuesday, 23 December.
