A fraudster responsible for leading a charitable organization aimed at improving living standards in popular tourist destinations has been found guilty of sexually abusing two young girls.Christopher Baker, aged 77, held the positions of director and secretary at the Mull and Iona Community Trust from 1998 until 2019.
He was convicted of assaulting the minors during the period from 1986 to 1996.
Residing on Mull, Baker denied these accusations, leading the victims—who are now adults—to give testimony in court.
The jury found him guilty of two counts involving lewd, indecent, and libidinous conduct.
Sentencing for Baker, who was released on bail, has been postponed until next month.
The organization was approached for a statement.
Baker initiated abuse on the first girl when she was just two years old and began abusing the second girl from the age of four.
The abuse took place in Tobermory, Dervaig, and Iona, lasting for about ten years before ceasing when the younger victim turned 12.
