CHRISTOPHER BAILEY CAUGHT IN MANCHESTER CAMPSITE CHILD SEX PLOT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community in Manchester, Christopher Bailey, aged 62, was found to have engaged in a series of heinous online conversations with undercover police officers, revealing his disturbing intentions to meet children for sexual abuse.The incident unfolded after Bailey initiated contact with what he believed was a man and wife, both undercover officers, on the messaging platform Kik, on December 8, 2021.
During their exchanges, Bailey expressed a disturbing interest in 'incestuous sex' and discussed his desire to meet children, including details about their ages—10, 7, and 2 years old.
He revealed that he owned a motorhome and was willing to travel to meet the family at a campsite, specifically mentioning locations in Guilford where he could stay.
Bailey's conversations with the officers quickly turned to explicit topics, including his interest in watching children being abused and performing sexual acts upon them.
He asked whether the wife knew about his intentions and claimed she 'got off on it,' indicating a disturbing level of engagement with the scenario.
Bailey also inquired about the physical details of the children, including how far the 10-year-old girl would go sexually.
The conversations moved from Kik to WhatsApp, where Bailey researched nearby campsites and shared this information with the officers, further demonstrating his intent to carry out the abuse.
In addition to discussing the logistics of the meeting, Bailey expressed a desire to see the children’s genitals and perform sexual acts on them.
He also asked the undercover officer posing as the wife for photographs of her children, indicating a premeditated plan to facilitate abuse.
The officers confirmed that Bailey was not merely fantasizing but was genuinely eager to meet the family, having booked a three-night stay at a local campsite for £150, planning to spend three days with the children.
Bailey’s disturbing intentions were further confirmed when he discussed the possibility of witnessing the children in the motorhome and expressed a desire to engage in sexual acts with them.
He also spoke about receiving explicit photographs of the children from the undercover wife, revealing his depraved interests.
Following his arrest, Bailey was taken for police interviews, during which he claimed that his conversations about sexual abuse were meant to 'wind people up' and denied any real attraction to children or plans to meet the family.
However, a thorough analysis of his seized phone and computer revealed further incriminating evidence, including chats with a decoy 14-year-old girl.
In these messages, Bailey, claiming to be 60, asked about her relationship status, whether she was 'horny,' and inquired if she had engaged in sexual activities with family members, suggesting an attempt to normalize such behavior.
Authorities also uncovered a significant collection of illegal images on Bailey’s devices, including 501 Category A indecent images of children—the most severe classification—along with 189 Category B images and 170 Category C images.
Additionally, three extreme pornographic images were found.
These images dated from February 2008 to August 2021, indicating Bailey’s access to such material over a span of more than 13 years.
During sentencing at Manchester Crown Court, Judge Nicholas Dean QC described the case as one of the most serious involving the exploitation of fictional or non-verifiable children.
He emphasized that Bailey’s actions reflected genuine intent rather than mere fantasy, noting that Bailey showed no reservations even when told the 10-year-old girl had non-verbal autism.
The judge condemned Bailey’s conduct as among the gravest of its kind seen in court.
Bailey, currently held at HMP Liverpool, was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison.
He was also ordered to be subject to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Bailey had previously pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including arranging child sex offenses, attempting to engage in sexual communication and acts with a child, possessing indecent images, and possessing extreme pornography, all of which underscore the severity of his criminal behavior.
