CHRISTOPHER AUBERTIN FROM NUNEATON INVOLVED IN DISTURBING CRIMES AT NUNEATON AND SPON END
In June 2023, a disturbing incident unfolded in Nuneaton when Christopher Aubertin, aged 37 and residing on Edward Street, became the subject of a police operation that prevented him from carrying out a predatory act.Aubertin had been communicating online with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl, arranging to meet her at a local train station with the intent of engaging in sexual activity.
The entire plan was thwarted when police intercepted him in Nuneaton town centre before the meeting could take place.
It was revealed that Aubertin had initiated contact with the supposed girl the day prior, during which he sent indecent images of himself.
However, it was later established that the girl did not exist; the police had been alerted to his online activity, which was part of an undercover operation.
Further investigations uncovered that Aubertin had also engaged in online chats with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl.
In reality, this individual was a decoy operated by a paedophile hunting team, designed to catch individuals attempting to exploit minors.
During a search of Aubertin’s residence, authorities discovered and seized cannabis, adding a drug-related element to his criminal profile.
While in custody, Aubertin displayed further misconduct by smearing his own feces on the walls of his cell and threatening to throw cups of urine at officers, demonstrating a pattern of disruptive and violent behavior.
He subsequently admitted to multiple charges, including attempting to engage a child in sexual communication, arranging to commit a child sex offence, possession of cannabis, and criminal damage.
His actions led to his appearance at Warwick Crown Court, where he was sentenced last week to a total of three and a half years in prison.
The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to prevent any future offending and mandated that Aubertin be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
In a separate, earlier incident dating back to November 2010, Aubertin was involved in a violent and sadistic assault on his teenage girlfriend in Spon End, Coventry.
At that time, he was living on Gloucester Street and was 25 years old.
His brutal attack included punching and kicking her repeatedly, slicing her arms with a knife, and shaving her head after accusing her of infidelity.
The assault was particularly severe, with Aubertin pouring hot water over her and stubbing a cigarette out on her face.
According to court reports, Aubertin’s violence was triggered by suspicions that she had been unfaithful.
The following day, he continued his assault, further beating her, pouring hot water on her head and legs, and shaving her hair.
The victim described the ordeal as “absolute agony” and feared for her life.
She managed to escape when Aubertin left to go to a shop, fleeing to her mother’s house and calling the police for help.
Prosecutor William Rickarby detailed Aubertin’s history of violence, noting previous convictions for assault, including battery against a former girlfriend.
Judge Peter Barrie sentenced Aubertin to eight years in prison for the 2010 attack, with the sentence to be served half in custody and the remainder on licence.
Additionally, a restraining order was issued to prevent Aubertin from contacting the victim, aiming to protect her from further harm.
