MANCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING GIRLS OVER A DECADE APART
A man has been jailed for two sickening cases of sexual abuse against girls - more than a decade apart.
Christopher Atherton has been sentenced to 13 years for his horrific crimes.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the 47-year-old committed offences against two girls.
He was found guilty of three charges — two of indecent assault and sexual assault — when his first victim was under 16 in the early 2000s.
Additionally, he was convicted of sexual assault of a child under 13 and inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity relating to an incident at least 15 years later.
Atherton, of Milnthorpe Way, Adrwick, was convicted after a trial at Minshull Street Crown Court.
Detective Constable Steve Matthias from GMP's Trafford Child Protection Unit stated that Atherton subjected his victims to severe ordeal by carrying out these crimes and then denying his guilt, which compelled them to testify in court.
The judge deemed him a significant risk of causing serious harm in the future and a danger to girls, ordering that he remain on the Sex Offender Register for life.
Authorities have emphasized support for victims and survivors, reaffirming their commitment to investigating all allegations regardless of how much time has passed.
