London teacher banned from classroom after changing room voyeurism conviction

LONDON TEACHER BANNED FROM CLASSROOM AFTER CHANGING ROOM VOYEURISM CONVICTION

A teacher who attempted to take photos inside female changing rooms has been banned from teaching indefinitely.

Christopher Arnold, 40, was convicted of a voyeurism offence, placed on the sex offenders register for five years in 2022, after holding his phone camera to the window of some female changing rooms.

He maintains he did not successfully photograph anyone.

Arnold was working since 2012 as a physics and computer science teacher at Hampton School, a private school for boys in Hampton.

He was reported to the school on March 23, 2022, for holding his mobile phone to the window of female changing rooms.

He was dismissed on May 6, 2022, after a disciplinary hearing.

Arnold pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work, 30 rehab days, and five years on the Sex Offenders Register.

The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) ruled his behavior 'fundamentally breached the standard of conduct expected of a teacher' and issued an indefinite ban with a two-year review period, considering his remorse and low risk of future repetition.

Arnold stated his actions were 'out of character' and that he was 'keen to take responsibility.' Hampton School confirmed he was dismissed in 2022 and that charges did not relate to safeguarding children.
