CHRISTOPHER ALLEN SWINDON SEX OFFENDER BANNED FROM CONTACTING CHILDREN AFTER GUILTY PLEA
In July 2022, a serious legal development unfolded in Swindon involving local resident Christopher Allen, who faced charges related to attempting to communicate sexually with a minor.Allen, a 38-year-old man residing on Clapham Close in the Moredon area, appeared before Swindon Crown Court to admit guilt on a charge of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, an offence alleged to have occurred in 2021.
During the court proceedings, prosecutor David Scutt highlighted that Allen has a prior conviction for a sexual offence, although specific details of that previous conviction were not disclosed to the court.
This history added weight to the case, emphasizing the potential risk Allen poses.
Defence attorney Edward Culver addressed the court, acknowledging the gravity of the situation.
He stated that Allen fully understands the potential consequences he faces, including the possibility of immediate imprisonment.
Culver also mentioned that there are significant personal mitigation factors that could influence the sentencing and requested that a pre-sentence report be prepared to better assess Allen’s circumstances.
Judge James Townsend responded by ordering an all-options pre-sentence report, which would consider various sentencing possibilities.
The judge made it clear that, under the current guidelines, a prison sentence is a likely outcome, even though previous convictions are not always a mandatory factor.
He emphasized that the court’s decision would be based on the report and the specifics of the case.
Following the hearing, Allen was released on conditional bail.
As part of the bail conditions, he is explicitly prohibited from contacting anyone under the age of 16.
The sentencing hearing was scheduled for July 29, where the court would determine the final outcome of the case and any further restrictions or penalties to be imposed.
