MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX ASSAULT AND EXPOSURE OFFENCES
A man has received a prison sentence of nearly five years following charges of child sexual assault and public indecency in a charity shop.Christoffer Thorkelsen, aged 30, was in Hertfordshire visiting with family from Norway when the incidents occurred in the previous year.
According to court reports, around 1.50pm on Wednesday, 15 October, Thorkelsen exposed his genitals to a bystander inside the Isabel Hospice store located in Haldens, Welwyn Garden City.
Furthermore, the court established that shortly before these events, Thorkelsen had also sexually assaulted a child under the age of seven within the same county.
Following police investigations, Thorkelsen attempted to leave the country but was stopped at Gatwick Airport when authorities detained him on his flight.
He was subsequently arrested, formally charged, and admitted to the offences in court.
Last Friday (5 June), St Albans Crown Court sentenced Thorkelsen to four and a half years for sexual assault, plus an additional five months for indecent exposure, with the sentences to be served one after the other.
Upon completion of his sentence, he will be deported.
