MANCHESTER CHEF JAILED FOR PUBLIC SEXUAL EXPOSURE AND ASSAULT
A chef who exposed himself in front of a young child during a flight to Manchester and engaged in other inappropriate behaviours has been spared jail.Christian Abu-Schaer, 26, was caught displaying 'bizarre and disgusting' conduct on a flight from Alicante to Manchester Airport in November of the previous year.
During the flight, Abu-Schaer was seen waiting to use the toilet next to an eight-year-old girl, who was accompanied by her sleeping mother.
A fellow passenger observed him facing the girl and exposing himself while touching himself in full view of her.
Later in the same flight, he also sexually assaulted a cabin crew member by grabbing her bottom.
The young girl subsequently told her mother about what she had seen, prompting the captain to be informed, who then notified ground staff and police.
Upon landing, police arrested Abu-Schaer at Manchester Airport.
Earlier, the defendant had been on police bail for a similar offence in the Lake District, where he was working in a hotel kitchen.
He was also later found in a back alley by a resident, nude and pleasuring himself, before being observed dressed but still touching himself.
Police discovered him with cocaine and cannabis, leading to his arrest.
During court proceedings, Abu-Schaer pleaded guilty to sexual assault, two counts of indecent exposure, and possession of drugs.
A judge branded him a 'sexual deviant' and highlighted that he 'clearly has a problem.' The judge stated, “In September and November last year you engaged in what can only be described as bizarre and disgusting behaviour for a young man of 26.
You have a serious problem Mr Abu-Schaer.
You have a sexual deviance and difficulty that you need to address and the public will not be protected from you until you are forced to address it.” As a sentence, Abu-Schaer received a three-year community order with a sex offender treatment program and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for five years.
The victim's mother expressed relief, saying, “It’s a poor show from the justice system - but we are glad he has finally appeared in court.”
