The turning point came when Rhodes was nominated for an award by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). A photograph of Rhodes appeared in a local newspaper, which unexpectedly triggered a flood of distressing recollections for one of his victims. This individual, now 42 years old, recognized Rhodes and decided to contact the police, leading to a renewed investigation into his past crimes.
Following the investigation, Rhodes was charged and subsequently appeared in Newport Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to 11 counts of indecent assault and seven counts of indecency with a child. His admission of guilt resulted in a prison sentence of two and a half years.
