CHARLES TRIGGS FROM MANCHESTER CAUGHT GROOMING HALESOWEN BOY FOR SEX

In a disturbing case that highlights the ongoing threat of online sexual predators, Charles Triggs, a man residing in Manchester, was convicted of grooming a young boy from Halesowen for sexual activity.

The incident unfolded in March 2012, when Triggs engaged in an online chatroom conversation with the boy, who was only 13 years old at the time.

According to court reports, Triggs had arranged to meet the Halesowen boy in person with the intent of engaging in a sexual encounter.

He traveled from Manchester to Halesowen, reportedly prepared to pay the boy £100 for a sexual session.

The Wolverhampton Crown Court heard that Triggs was fully aware of the boy’s age but proceeded with his plans, demonstrating a clear intent to exploit the young child.

However, upon realizing that the boy was only 13, Triggs quickly changed his mind about going through with the meeting.

Despite this sudden change of heart, he still handed over the money he had intended to pay for the encounter.

His actions, however, did not go unnoticed, and he was subsequently arrested by police authorities.

During the investigation, police seized Triggs’ computer and discovered 24 indecent images stored on his device.

The chat logs from his online conversations revealed a series of sexually explicit exchanges with the boy, further confirming his intent to exploit the child.

Triggs, aged 55 at the time, admitted to multiple charges, including inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, meeting a child after sexual grooming, and making indecent photographs of a child.

The court was informed that he had a long history of previous convictions related to offences involving gross indecency with boys and indecent assault on minors.

Judge Jonathan Gosling emphasized the importance of protecting young boys from predators like Triggs, underscoring the seriousness of his crimes.

Mr.

David Lees, the prosecutor, highlighted that the boy’s mother had contacted police after becoming concerned about her son’s online interactions with an adult.

Her vigilance led to the investigation and subsequent arrest of Triggs.

In sentencing, Triggs was handed an 18-month prison term, reflecting the gravity of his offences and the ongoing threat posed by individuals who seek to exploit children through digital means.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking online and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable minors from sexual predators.
