Melton Child Sexual Abuser
In August 2014, Charles Tetley, a 33-year-old man from Kings Road, Long Clawson, near Melton, was handed a significant prison sentence after admitting to a series of serious sexual crimes. The sentencing took place at Leicester Crown Court, where Tetley was sentenced to a total of 12 years behind bars for his actions.

His guilty plea covered a range of charges, including five counts of rape, attempted rape, eight counts of assault by penetration, three counts of sexual assault, and ten counts of creating indecent images of children. These offences were committed over a period spanning from January 2011 to October 2013 and involved a single victim, whose identity remains protected.

The case drew attention not only because of the severity of the crimes but also due to the bravery demonstrated by the victim in coming forward to report the incidents. Detective Constable Mike Buckey, the lead investigator in the case, publicly commended her courage, emphasizing the importance of her decision to speak out.

Following the court proceedings, Det Con Buckey expressed his relief that Tetley had pleaded guilty, which spared the victim from the additional trauma of recounting her experiences in court. He stated, “The victim has shown immense bravery throughout the investigation and court process.”

He further added, “I hope that the sentence passed today, and Tetley’s admission, will help the victim move on with her life and put the events of those two and a half years behind her.” The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address and prosecute sexual offences, and the importance of supporting victims through the justice process.
