LEICESTER TEEN CONVICTED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER OVER GRINDR SCISSOR ATTACK
A teenager named Chad Gurney, who engaged in consensual sex with his victim in a Leicester park during July, was convicted of attempting to murder his Grindr date by stabbing him in the neck with a pair of scissors.During the trial, police revealed that they found a notebook and diary at Gurney’s residence that contained violent and murderous thoughts.
Residing on Saffron Lane, Leicester, Gurney admitted to possessing an offensive weapon and was described in court as a threat to public safety.
It emerged that he had previously devised two murder plots but had not executed them.
Following the incident near the Aylestone Leisure Centre on 29 July, Gurney surrendered himself later that evening.
The court sentenced him to 13 years in prison, plus a further five years on license.
The judge highlighted that Gurney had a history of 'murderous expeditions' and concluded that this attack was the result of longstanding murderous intent.
His defense team claimed he suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder.
The court emphasized the danger he poses, underlining the gravity of his long-term violent plans.
